Lydia's Story
Our identities are layered. We are not just our job or our the role we play in our family or what happened to us in childhood. We’re not just our race or gender or sexuality. Each part of who we are impacts how we perceive ourselves, and impacts our mental health.
“Some of the things I deal with have to do with being black, and being a women, and being queer. Being able to talk about those things in tandem with talking about mental health is really important. I think the social piece and the psychological piece go hand in hand and being able to explore them both has been really transformative.”
Through counselling, Lydia has been able to build her self-worth and gained valuable tools to help her whenever that worth is in doubt.
