It’s time to talk mental health

The Canadian Mental Health Association dedicates one week of the year to inspire conversation and break down stigma surrounding mental health. This is a cause that is close to our hearts here at the Centre.

Our foundation at Calgary Counselling Centre is to start a conversation; therefore the week of May 5-11 is a great opportunity for us to showcase what we stand for. We encourage each and every one of you to make a conscious effort to start the conversation about mental health. The conversation that could ignite change. The conversation that could save a life. It is time to shine a positive light on mental health in our community.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. It is the key to overall well-being. Mental health touches each and every one of us at some point in our life, whether that be coping with internal struggles or dealing with a family, friend or spouse; mental health doesn’t discriminate. No one is immune to it. This is why we are encouraging you to take time out of your week to spread the word because you never know when mental health may impact your life.

Not only do we encourage you to focus on making a difference for the mental health of those around you, we also encourage you to take a moment for your own mental health this week. Engage in physical activity or enjoy a night of relaxation, whatever you choose to do, you will reap many benefits to both your physical and mental state.
