You don’t have to wait.

We have no wait list. After you call or fill out the online registration form, we’ll contact you within two business days to set up an appointment with one of our counsellors (as well as weekdays, we can meet with you evenings or Saturdays).

You don’t need to worry about costs.

We base our fees on a sliding scale according to your income. That means you pay only what you can afford.

You’ll receive personalized, one-on-one attention.

We assign the counsellor we think is right for you and you meet to talk about your goals. If you don’t click, we assign you a different counsellor. Later, we may suggest group counselling too.

We measure your progress.

At the beginning of every counselling session you’ll answer a few questions to tell us how you’re doing and whether we need to change what we’re doing.

We stay on top of best practices.

We keep on top of the latest counselling research and apply best practices to make sure you get the best possible counselling.

How Much Does Counselling Cost?

The fees we charge you are based on a sliding scale. That means your fee will depend on your income and how much you can afford to pay. We’ll give you a quote when you register and if you think it’s too much, we can talk about it at your first session. Your health insurance plan may cover some or all of the cost. Regardless of what you pay, you’ll receive top notch counselling.

The Right Counsellor For You

Your improved well-being is our top priority. But to get there, you need to feel you can connect with your counsellor, feel comfortable around them and be able to talk with them easily. If you feel the counsellor is not a good fit with you — which is OK — then ask for a different counsellor. If you’re not comfortable having that conversation with your current counsellor, call 403.691.5991 and we’ll be happy to help you move to a different counsellor.

How Do You Know The Counselling Is Working?

At each counselling session, you’ll be asked a few questions to see how you’re doing — it’s a little check on your mental health vital signs. That information helps your counsellor decide whether to adjust what they’re doing. We want you to achieve your goals and enjoy healthy well-being. Using this process — Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT) — makes sure we’re giving you the best possible counselling.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

Counselling doesn’t need to go for months or years on end. Our clients typically need an average of 8–10 counselling sessions to benefit. Some people may need a bit less and others may need a bit more.


Wilson Centre for Domestic Abuse Studies

Through our Wilson Centre for Domestic Abuse Studies, we have done years of academic research into the causes of abuse, how to prevent it from happening and how to end the cycle of abuse. This research has helped us come up with innovative and effective ways to support people who are abused as well as those who are abusive. Our counsellors are in high demand to train other professionals across North America about the individual and group programs we’ve developed that reduce abuse and help people move on with healthy relationships.
