High River Counselling Centre
With the help of FCSS, Alberta Health Services, funding from the Alberta Government and numerous generous donors, the High River Counselling Centre (HRCC), a division of Calgary Counselling Centre, opened its doors in January of 2014. HRCC provided mental health support to residents of the Foothills area affected by the devastating floods of 2013. Counselling services followed the same methods applied by the Calgary Counseling Centre, which produces some of the strongest client results in the industry.
After three years of working with the community and with funding having come to an end, HRCC will close its doors on June 30th, 2016.
We are so grateful to have been a part of the community and are pleased to report that after receiving a total of 633 referrals and providing 2,756 counselling sessions up until March 31st, 2016, over 93 per cent of clients from town reported improved levels of wellbeing which were stable, improved or recovered The program was not only successful at helping the residents, but also proved to be a successful framework for how we can move quickly and efficiently, and can quickly respond elsewhere if the need arises.
Although the office in High River is closed, help is always available. Foothills residents can contact us for counselling services at our Calgary office, either by phone (403-691-5991) or online (www.calgarycounselling.com). A fee for services will be charged based on our sliding scale.
