Calgary Counselling Centre Participating in Charitable Initiative
Calgary Counselling Centre has been selected to participate in a new charitable initiative called Birdies for Kids.
The initiative is presented by AltaLink (BFK) and run by the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation. With a focus primarily on children and youth, the golf tournament supports a variety of charities who are dedicated to changing lives. The tournament has raised over $4.67 million for children and youth in the last two years.
“Being selected as one of the charitable organizations in the Shaw Charity Classic’s Birdies for Kids is an honour and an excellent opportunity for the Calgary Counselling Centre to raise funds for our children and youth programs,” explains Katrina Bradley, Chief Development Officer at the Centre.
This fundraising opportunity is unique as it allows the Centre to receive 100 per cent of every donation and up to 50 percent of additional funding through the Birdies for Kids matching program. Donors can either make a one-time donation, or a pledge for each birdie scored. There were 892 birdies in 2014 at the Shaw Charity Classic, with an estimated 900 in the 2015 tournament.
Since Birdies for Kids is a youth-oriented initiative, funds raised will go to the Centre’s two priority children and youth programs: Responsible Choices for Children and Parents and Children of Divorce. Funding for these programs will allow the Centre to provide financial subsidies to children and families who would not be able to afford counselling programs otherwise.
Donations are accepted until August 9th, 2015. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
